I.          Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 9:06 am by Chair T. Dover.

II.        Scheduled Subjects

            a.  Approval of Tuition and Fee Increases

i.  Fee Schedule.  Denise Kerby reviewed the list of fees that are tied to specific courses.  Recommended changes included:

·        Addition of a Diesel Technology Fee for expenses related to equipment

·        Addition of statewide approved fees that were omitted from last year’s schedule:  Kentucky Web fee and Board of Governors portfolio fee and charges

·        Addition of Computer Technology Course Fee for Cisco & Aries equipment and upgrades.

·        An increase in Instructional Laboratory & Clinical Course Fee for laboratory upgrades and equipment

·        Removal of fees no longer applicable:  automotive technology fee, crew course fee, off-campus fee and special contact resource fee

A motion to approve the fee schedule as revised was made by C. Harvey and seconded by R. Sevy.  Motion carried.

ii.  Tuition:  Denise Kerby reminded the members that at this time it is not known if there will be any increases to the base operating budget.  She noted that WVU Tech plans to increase tuition by 5.5% for resident, non-resident and graduate students.

When President Harris was asked for her opinion on tuition increases at the CTC, she suggested a 2.75% to 3 % increase as the CTC will most likely have extra expenses with increases in salaries and PEIA costs.

Discussion included how CTC @ Tech rates compare with other Community and Technical Colleges in WV and the impact of implementing a smaller rate increase for out-of-state students.

C. Harvey moved for a 3% across the board increase in tuition, subject to any actions taken by the Community & Technical College System Council.  K. Price seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

III.       Announcements

Chair Dover noted that election of officers will be held during the next meeting, Friday, April 27 at 9:00 am.

IV.       Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 10:35 am.

Respectfully submitted,
