Mechanical Engineering Technology, A.S.

The associate of science degree Mechanical Engineering Technology (ASMET) is a two-year program that applies established scientific and engineering knowledge and methods to the field of machines and manufacturing. This program is ideally suited to the person who is capable of understanding theoretical principles, but prefers to get involved with mechanical equipment.

A graduate mechanical engineering technician will be qualified to serve as an assistant to an engineer and can select from many areas such as manufacturing, maintenance, modification of design, power generation, technical laboratory operation, technical sales, testing and analysis, and field engineering services. Completion of this program also qualifies the graduate to enter plus-two Bachelor of Science programs in Engineering Technology-Mechanical emphasis or Industrial Technology at WVU Tech or similar baccalaureate engineering technology programs at other institutions.

Accreditation:

The program is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (TAC/ABET).
