Director, Mine Safety Technology Consortium

 

POSITION:

DIRECTOR of Mine Safety Technology Consortium, 12-month position, grant-funded

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years’ related experience required; master’s preferred.  Demonstrated evidence of grant-writing required.  Demonstration of a knowledge of mine safety technology preferred.  Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.  Administrative experience is required. Commitment to economic development is essential.  Demonstrated ability to provide leadership for and work cooperatively and positively with the mining industry, the academic community, and the economic development community. Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative partnerships required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The director will assume responsibilities of leadership and coordination for key components of the Mine Safety Technology Innovation and Capability grant program.  This individual will be responsible for deliverables and effective management of the Mine Safety Technology Consortium (MSTC), and will take a leadership role in the establishment of business incubators related to the mining industry.  The successful candidate will assist in the coordination of mine safety workforce training with the Director of Workforce Development at the CTC at WVU Tech and other partners.  Other responsibilities include grant management, fiscal control, staffing, planning, and assessment of grant activities.  The individual will be responsible to develop cooperative relationships with all educational institutions that provide mine safety training and the mining industry.  The position requires a high level of report and grant writing.  The director reports to the President of the Community and Technical College at WVU Tech and works closely with the Director of Workforce Development for the College.

The Community and Technical College at West Virginia University Institute of Technology (CTC at WVU Tech) is an accredited community college, co-located on the campus of West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Montgomery, 30 miles east of the state capitol.  This emerging institution enrolls over 600 students in associate degree programs, as well as transfer and certificate programs, predominantly in engineering technology, printing technology, business and office technology, and health-related areas.

SALARY:

Commensurate with qualifications
